Specifications:
Compatibility: 780i motherboard (all reference builds)
Material: Aluminum
Description:
The Viper John 780i Mosfet Heatsinks coupled with an
aftermarket air cooler or chipset waterblock is a great solution for those that
wish to replace the stock cooling solution on their nVidia reference 780i motherboard.
The mosfet heatsinks mount using four of the stock 2mm insulated spring screws that
are used to retain the stock 780i chipset "FrankenCooler". After cleaning the
mosfets of any old TIM apply a dab of either Arctic Silver Ceramique or Arctic
Cooling MX-2
compound to each mosfet and install the heatsinks. If you thread a round tooth pick part
way into each threaded heat sink hole they make a handy pilot for lining the heatsinks up
with the mounting holes in the motherboard.
Tech Notes:
• The single row mosfet heatsink base is deliberately
crowned outward at the center. This is to help compensate for the motherboard
bow that occurs in this area when a CPU cooler is installed...even when a
backplate is used.
• If your motherboard uses thermal interfaces pads (typically found on the stock
mosfet strip heatsink) do not reuse them when installing either of the Viper
Vcore Mosfet heat sinks.
