This backplate is intended for use with the EK-MOSFET ASUS1, 3, or 3a MOSFET Waterblock only.  Why stop with just CPU waterblock backplates when there are more waterblocks in your system that don't have them?  Well, to answer the cry of many a forum member, EK has released this backplate for their more popular MOSFET waterblocks.  The idea here is to more evenly distribute mounting force across your motherboard's MOSFETS and prevent motherboard flex caused by the over-tightening of mounting hardware.
